Dairy Goat Project

To empower the poor households where the children come from, resources are sought to buy dairy goats which will be donated to the families. The goats have high milk yields for use by the children. When the goats reproduce, the families also sell them at high prices and they can use the funds to buy food for the children as well as buy school learning materials for the children

Pig Project

This is a project which has not yet begun. Support is sought to enable TCA distribute two pigs to needy families. The pigs reproduce so fast with each pig giving birth to at least 10 piglets. The pigs reproduce twice a year meaning a family can get at least 20 piglets per year or one year and three months from the two donated pigs. Pork is in high demand in Taveta and in surrounding areas. Families can sell two month old pigs for about US $ 60 each and a grown pig for about US $ 200. This means with proper training and care, each supported household could be empowered to earn between US $ 1200 to US $ 4000 per year which is a significant amount to help pull them out of poverty.

TCA hopes to establish a piggery from where the pigs will be taken care of and distributed to the families. To begin with, pigs could be bought for TCA which would be reproduced for some time then the donation to the families will be made using the piglets reproduced.

Dairy Cows Project

TCA currently runs a dairy cows project which has been supported by our partners to establish. This project has created employment opportunities and has been able to help feed the children out of the funds accrued from the milk sales. TCA currently has 16 dairy cows and aims to have 50 of them to make the project economically viable. Funds raised from this project will help support the children with school fees and other school learning materials as well as help raise the number of meals served to the children per month from the current average of 3,000 meals to at least 8,000 meals per month.
